Rolling-Cue-Ball CAROM ANGLE Systems
Dr. Dave demonstrates several useful systems to accurately predict carom direction for rolling-CB shots. The carom angle is the amount the CB deflects off the OB. Being able to predict this is useful to detect a possible scratch, to plan break-out and carom shots, and to visualize position-play paths through “traffic.”CORRECTIONS:- At the 3m07s point, the line showing the predicted CB direction should have gone from the finger to the 1 ball.- In the diagram at the 3m46s point, the 0.281 and 2/7 (0.286) lines were mislabeled. They should be switched. 1/4 (0.250) is less than 0.281, which is less than 2/7 (0.286).Table of Contents:0:00 – Intro0:22 – 1 - 30˚ Rule Peace Sign1:01 – 2 - Full and Thin Hits1:39 – 3 - Rolling Carom Angle (RCA) System3:18 – 4 - CB Line RCA4:20 – 5 - Marked-Cue RCA5:45 – 6 - Perpendicular RCA6:29 – 7 - Speed Effects7:31 – 8 - Easy Example9:15 – 9 - Tough Example10:37 – Wrap Up11:32 – ---- system montageSupporting Resources:- peace-sign angle calibration template: https://billiards.colostate.edu/resource_files/30-degree-rule_angle_templates.pdf- CB control video: https://youtu.be/fPQEBxbByD4- Coriolis carom angle theoretical analysis: https://billiards.colostate.edu/technical_proofs/new/TP_A-4.pdf- how to visualize the tangent line: https://youtu.be/hAYjgQN7bw8?t=435 - where the CB goes with different shots: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/cue-ball-control/where-cb-goes/Subscribe to Dr. Dave's YouTube channel (and be sure to turn on bell notifications): https://www.youtube.com/DrDaveBilliards?sub_confirmation=1Show your support to Dr. Dave for his work by clicking on the donation button near the top of this page: https://billiards.colostate.edu/All of Dr. Dave's full-length instructional videos are available to stream or download here: https://DrDaveBilliards.com/stream/and in physical DVD format here: https://DrDaveBilliards.com/Detailed product information and purchasing advice can be found here: https://DrDaveBilliards.com/products/info-advice/If you ever come across a word or phrase you don't know, you can find definitions here: https://billiards.colostate.edu/glossary/Good Luck With Your Game!!!
