"Tip Back / Tip Forward"... Why Do You Miss?!
The recent online theory (put forward by some who are beginning their journey as coaches) says that players rarely miss because of technique or cueing, and only need to pay attention to their aiming. My experience coaching full time for 30 years in over 50 countries tells me otherwise...I put some polls onto Facebook and Youtube about this in December, which gave interesting results:I then recorded a one hour Q&A on this topic with TSG Master Coach John Gillard - one of my favourite thinkers in the game. The video gives a lot of nuance on the subject, and I would be interested to hear your thoughts (good, bad, or ugly!) in the comments section...You can contact John Gillard here:https://x.com/johngillard19https://www.johngillardsnookercoach.com/This video is a sample taken from our newly relaunched platform:๐ฅ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ธ ๐ฎ. 02:46 Does Tip Forward lead to enjoyment and performance?03:36 Must stay away from Rabbit Holes03:50 Nicโs main tour pro who was very confused, and getting out of mental spaghetti04:37 John has had 20 tons in two weeks05:53 Technique maintenance?07:44 How can technique improve if you are Tip Forward?08:30 Do, Trust, and Forget - and Nic missing the blue in the middle he was practicing like mad09:62 What filters does John employ with players before working on technique11:33 John's example of leaving alone a part of technique...
