Two 57s, Two Moments of Stillness
A couple days ago I played for a couple hours before scoring my high run for the day of 57.Just now, I played for only about 45 minutes and ended with a 57.I'm to the point where I need to remind myself of only one or two things, rather than a half dozen, for my shot routine to fall in place. The first was the "Second moment of stillness". That is, makes sure I am fully down, eyes on object ball and set in my stance before beginning any warm-up strokes. The second was the "Third moment of stillness". Which is, a nice pause at the end of the warmups, let the eyes settle on the object ball, make a distinct separation between warmups and final stroke. This makes is SO MUCH easier to bring that cue stick back SLOWLY.The more every minute step of your fundamentals are an unconscious habit, no more conscious brain is free for the things that change on every shot.As I watch the 57 ball run, I can see that I did not pause at those two moments as much or as long as felt while playing. But that was the intent, and it shows.
