Hours of Operation
Union Recreation is a campus‑centered game room located inside the A. Ray Olpin Student Union at the University of Utah, offering one of the most accessible places to play pool in the city. The space is bright, open, and intentionally welcoming, designed to serve students, faculty, and the general public rather than a bar crowd. With eight full‑size pool tables available, the room stays active but organized, and games tend to move at a steady, respectful pace. This is a recreational environment first — alcohol‑free, all‑ages, and built around affordability and ease of access rather than nightlife. [union.utah.edu], [union.utah.edu] From a pool player’s perspective, Union Recreation is ideal for repetition, fundamentals, and casual competition. The hourly pricing model and generous table availability make it easy to settle into longer sessions without pressure, whether you’re working on mechanics, teaching new players, or just getting quality table time between classes. While the atmosphere isn’t geared toward gambling or high‑stakes action, the consistent conditions and low cost make it a strong option for practice and social play. For players looking for an all‑ages, low‑stress pool room with reliable tables and predictable access, Union Recreation fills an important niche in Salt Lake City’s pool landscape.
